The 'Umbrella Man' is one of Peter Max's most famous signature characters - a Felliniesque figure, with coat, hat and umbrella rendered in a surge of colors looking into the brilliant color-spectrum horizon ahead. Max has created the work with thick, energetic and expressionistic brushwork. The poster is brilliantly reproduced so that the paint appears to still be wet. It's a joyously vibrant work with a calligraphic Max line drawing printed in the margin.
