Peter Max reveres the Mona Lisa and its ability to both endure and transcend its period of origin. Max has honored the masterpiece through the years in a series of painting studies. In 'Mona Lisa I,' the artist utilizes a range of colors, blends, contrast and brushwork to add dimension to the iconic image, call attention to her beauty and guide the viewer to see her anew.
