In 'Cosmic Runner on Blends,' Max's gravity defying runner leaps over the sun with peace birds and one of the artist's signature profiles of this era. A 'Zen Boat' sails along on a celestial lake against a mountain of cumulus clouds on its own tranquil journey.

Printmaking has been central to Max's practice since the 1960s, when he experimented with a 'split fountain' technique on press to achieve fluid color blend gradations from his press inks. Max continued his work with his lush, signature color blends through the decades. In this piece, he has framed his 'Cosmic Runner' in a bold, color blend border set against an electric and complementary color blend margin - creating a vibrant and exuberant graphic print.
