In Peter Max's 'Blushing Beauty' painting, a joyous flourish of leaves and flowers, rendered in lush brushwork and bombastic color meet the lady's pale profile, rendered in elegant, calligraphic strokes. With her eyes closed, the beauty is content in her repose within a bouquet of vivid purples, blues and golds. 

Max's female profiles are one of his most pre-eminent signatures, and a collector favorite. Emerging as sketches as early as 1967, they have evolved through many styles and mediums.
