From Peter Max's memories of his childhood in Shanghai, China, he created 'Asia.' She wears an ornate robe and flowers pinned to the side of her hair, painted with Max's kinetic, expressionistic brushwork. 

Juxtaposed to the energy of the bold, color strokes, is the sparse contour of perfect lines creating her soft expression on pale skin; highlighted by her pursed red lips, slight blush and calm gaze. She is a portrait of Zen - deep in meditation, seeking insight and the nature of things.
