Peter Max's 'Roseville Profile' painting was inspired by his collection of the celebrated and beloved Roseville Pottery. Like the artisan pottery, this 'Roseville Profile' painting has influences from the early 20th Century Art Nouveau movement in the curves and swirls of the crown of flowers. The painting is also inspired by the Art Deco movement with its bold, geometric stripes. The female profile is drawn in the artist's signature sparse, contour lines -- reminiscent of Matisse.
