Throughout the chronology of his career, Peter Max has experimented and worked intensively in the printing art forms - exploring and delving into different techniques, adding to and embellishing his printed art to create distinctive, mixed media works. 

Peter Max's feminine profiles are one of his most pre-eminent signatures, and a collector favorite - emerging as sketches as early as 1967 and evolving through styles and mediums. In 'Profile #100,' from Max's black and white printed series, the artist renders the full and dramatic profile in fluid, contour lines, adding thick, bold strokes and hand-colored with vibrant color wash and kinetic pencil work, creating a jazz-like improvisation of rhythm, form and color.
