Peter Max's feminine profiles are one of his most iconic subjects, emerging from his sketches as early as 1967. In 'Lady With Flower II,' from his black and white print series, the artist renders the profile in his signature fluid, calligraphic line work. Her form fills the composition, leaving little negative space in the black field around her. 

The artist has uniquely hand-colored the work with color washes crescendoing from subtle hues to punctuations of bold color. He has further embellished the piece with lively pencil work on the subject, margins and on the embossment seal. Throughout his career, Peter Max has experimented intensively in the printing art forms - exploring different techniques and adding to and embellishing his printed art to create distinctive, mixed media works.
