Sony Man On The Moon Ver. I #3

Mixed Media on Paper

20" x 16"

Peter Max's 'Sony Man on the Moon' expresses the hope and promise of the space age, and the vastness and wonder of our universe. Max created the image originally in 1989 to commemorate the 20th anniversaries of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing and of Sony's Trinitron television - celebrating the stellar human achievement that landed humans on the moon and the technology that made it possible for over a billion people to share the dream at home.

Max's otherworldly and unexpected colors in the work illustrate the deepness of space and man's scale in our galaxy. With serene and fluid brushwork, punctuations of bold color and Max's 'zooples' rendered on the moon's surface, this striking work takes us to that unforgettable moment in human history.
