This vintage serigraph is an enchanting example of the transformation of Peter Max's work from his 1960s internationally-renown 'Cosmic Art' period to his more fluid drawing style that emerged in the 1970s. 

The artist's strong, bold lines from his 'Cosmic Art' period become more softened and calligraphic. His line work in 'Outer Spectrum' flows organically - creating a composition of elegant simplicity. Just as masters Matisse and Picasso reduced complex drawings to perfect minimalist lines, Max has drafted a transcendently beautiful landscape with simple, fluid line work. 

Max uses bold color fills reminiscent of his cosmic era work. He marries soft blues and violets with warm reds and tangerine and pops of bright yellow for a tranquil balance of color that is full of life. 

This elegant image is definitive Peter Max, finding a restful place for us in nature's peaceful glory.
