The Peter Max profiles are perhaps the artist's most pre-eminent signature. Emerging as studies and sketches as early as 1967 and evolving through styles and mediums; the artist's profiles, with their sparse contour of simple, perfect lines, are reminiscent of the works of Matisse and Picasso.
In the painting 'Day Dream,' there are elements of the many schools that have inspired the artist - a Fauvist influence in the bold use of color and an Abstract Expressionist influence in the textural and kinetic brush strokes.
